ABOUT SAXOFONMAGASINET

Saxofonmagasinet är stället för saxofonister som är intresserade av blues-, R&B- och rock-musik  med saxofonen i centrum.

Jag heter Thomas Fyledal. Saxofonmagasinet är  hemsidan som jag sköter efter bästa förmåga. Syftet med hemsidan är att öka intresset för rocksaxofon.

Mitt intresse för saxofon och rocksax började på 60-talet. Jag kommer ännu ihåg första gången jag hörde King Curtis och Jr Walker. Deras musik gjorde att jag började intressera mig för afro-amerikansk musik med saxofonen som huvudinstrument.

Jag började spela saxofon på europeiska märken. Mitt musicerande har alltid varit på amatörnivå. I slutet av 70-talet vaknade intresset för saxofonen som instrument. Min första amerikanska sax var en King Super 20 tenor. Det lät annorlunda och bra! Av Paul Cohen, New York, köpte jag i början av 80-talet Beuscher C-sopran -25, Beuscher B-sopran -28, Conn C-Melody -27 och The Martin Baritone -62. Martin Handcraft -39 tenor, Martin Handcraft Comm II -40 alt och The Martin Alto - 57 har jag köpt av Bob Ackermann. The Martin Tenor och The Martin Magna Tenor hittade jag i Lund. Om du söker en bra saxofon, undersök de amerikanska märkena. Martin saxar har blivit min favorit. Tonen och karaktären i dessa saxofoner är speciell. Jag använder regelbundet mina saxofoner, om än mer sporadiskt än tidigare, och tycker att de är fantastiska. Trots allt anser jag att Selmer Mk VI av tidigt datum är den bästa saxofon som någonsin tillverkats!

My name is Thomas Fyledal. I´m running the website Saxofonmagasinet as well as I can. The purpose of the website is to keep up the interest for the saxophone and Rocksax-music. As you probably can guess this is a nearly non-profit hobby. Since English is not my first language, I hope you can overlook that I don´t treat it perfectly.

My interest for American saxes and Rocksax started in the 60´s. I still remember the first time I heard King Curtis and Jr Walker. Their music got me interested in Afro-American music wirh the saxophone as major instrument.  

I staretd to play on European brands. As a saxplayer I have always been an amateur. In the end of the 70´s my interest for the saxophone as an instrument started. My first American saxophone was a King Super 20 tenor. It sounded different and fine! In the early 80´s I bought Beuscher C-soprano -25, Beuscher B-soprano -28, Conn C-Melody -27 and The Martin Baritone -62 from Paul Cohen, New York. My Martin Handcraft tenor -39, Martin Comm II alto -40 and The Martin Alto -57 where purchased from Bob Ackerman, New  Jersey. I came upon The Martin Magna Tenor -59 and The Martin Tenor -57 in Lund, Sweden. If you are looking for a good saxophone, try the American brands! Martin saxophones has become my personal favourite among saxes. The tone and character of these saxophones is special. I use my saxophones regularly, unfortunatly less today, and I think they are terrific. Even though, I think the best saxophone ever made is the Selmer MK VI of early date!
